New Youth Center for Youth Program and Services

Through the City of San Jose's Re-Use facility Project, the Youth Department at Friends Outside can now offer programs and services out of their own facility. The facility is located at 1295 Johnson Ave, San Jose CA 95129 at Rainbow Park.  We are the little house on the park, across the street from Lynbrook High School!

Youth Summer Poetry Workshop

During the summer we were able to provide a poetry workshop for our teens.  We were overwhelmed when we heard the poems they wrote.  They took the quiet time they were offered and put their feeling and thoughts that came from somewhere so deep--into words.  Here is one of those poems.  More can be found on the Friends Outside Youth Blog listed below.

So You had A Bad Day

So you had a bad day

You need some light

You want to see it one more time

So you had a bad day

So you saw your first death

You saw your best friends with some meth

So you had a bad day

You got an "F" on a school report

So you just lost your game in the court

So you had a bad day

So you are locked up in your room

The flowers in your garden just won't bloom

So you had a bad day

You come home from school

and the police are there to take you away

And then they say you are out done your stay

So you had a bad day

Now all you have to do

Is turn it around
